In 1938 Geoffrey Handy started an ironmonger's business in the old town of Swindon. Over the years, the company expanded into hardware, bottled gas and lawn mowers before becoming the specialised garden machinery business known today as Handy Distribution.
Handy has three divisions to the company consisting of one of the largest and well know retail bases in the south west of England, a commercial division offering specialist support to the commercial and golf course sector in 6 counties, and the largest trade division supplying a wide range of customers from large national retailers to garden centres, mail order companies, and to well over 200 specialist dealers nationwide.
Over the past years the distribution side of our business has grown exponentially, from a 3,500 sq ft warehouse to the current purpose built 38,000 sq ft site with another 30,000 sq ft close by. As well as distributing a vast range of garden machinery, we also now have our own range of products sourced from excellent manufacturers in Europe, North America, and the Far East.
Since the company's creation in 1938, Handy has grown dramatically and now has more than 50 full time staff. Our dedicated and experienced team has a wealth of domain knowledge and many years of experience in the garden machinery industry. We believe that if you employing the best people brings the best result, and our position as the biggest supplier of garden machinery in the country speaks for itself.
